I think Chile is a great place to visit. There's a lot to do and Chileans are friendly but without being able to speak Spanish logistics can be a bit complicated. When researching how to get to Pucon I couldn’t find any definitive information so hopefully this mini guide will help anyone who is looking how to get there.
So, how to get to Pucon? You can fly from Santiago to Temuco but I didn't manage to buy my ticket in Skyairline’s webpage using a foreign credit card. You might have better luck but a quick google search shows that I'm not alone and Paypal doesn't seem to work neither. Latam (LAN) might be a better option (it's more international) but I didn't try because it was too expensive.
If you want to save money and you don't have anyone local to give you a hand and buy it for you, I would recommend using taking a bus with Jac. I tried buying the bus ticket with a foreign credit card but didn’t work neither (redcompra argh!). However, you can buy the ticket at the main bus station a couple of days in advance (if available) and they shouldn’t be too expensive. Once you get to Temuco airport, you can grab a transfer to Pucon for 10.000 CLP. These are shared mini buses that leave to a number of local places every 30 mins or something like that.
You can book your accommodation in Pucon through booking.com and I would recommend it over something like Despegar which tends to be pretty bad if something doesn’t go as expected.
